Get Off Your Ass!
Fear. What does that mean to you? How does it impact your life? It has an affect on every single one of us in some form or another. Most people aren’t even aware of their fears. I’m not talking about being afraid of snakes or spiders. I believe the subtle fears govern our lives more than the obvious ones do. Those of us who can honestly address those fears, learn from them and subsequently grow from them, are the ones who can find at least modest success in life.
The fear of change is a major factor for many people. We fear what we don’t know, thus we either demonize it to some degree or simply stay away from it. I’ve heard that some people are afraid of success. That’s bull$#!&! I think we all want to be successful. While we all define success differently, it usually means going beyond where we are now. That’s where most of us stop. Have you ever wished you could do something other than what you’re doing right now? Of course you have. Most of us have. The question is what are you going to do about it. What’s holding you back? FEAR.
Let me illustrate this using myself as an example. While I’ve had many different jobs, for more than 20 years I’ve been involved in the health & fitness industry in some form. I ultimately realized a long held desire and bought my own health club. Well, as with most things in life certain things changed and I had to close the doors last year. I asked myself – What now? Although there was a considerable monetary loss, I keep a positive attitude and I do believe that I will come out on top again. The answer to my question was simple yet difficult. I’ve always believed that if you do what you love you’ll never work a day in your life. So I asked myself “What do I really enjoy?” Well, in turns out that while I’m basically a perv at heart I’m also a frustrated techie. I know relatively next to nothing about how the Internet works but I decided to combine two things I enjoy. I decided to venture into an area that I’ve had NO formal training. I started a website.
My first site was dedicated to health and considering it’s my first one it’s doing well. Then a friend suggested to me that I should start an adult site. I’ve been toying with the idea for a long time but the FEAR of not knowing the industry was keeping me from even trying. At least with the health site I knew the material inside and out. The only thing I know about the adult industry is what I like. So, that’s where I started. Here with this blog. My first steps were to seek out those who could teach me what I needed to know. I found a few such places. Cozy Campus Forum, Zipped Sites Forum and AWI. On all of these forums I found a great deal of useful information, lots of very knowledgeable people that were willing to GUIDE me in the right direction.
The point of my diatribe is DON’T BE AFRAID! You’re never going to get anywhere sitting on your ass. GET OFF YOUR ASS and move! What are you waiting for? What’s holding you back?
Remember this simple fact of life, you get out of it what you put in to it. If you’re willing to put in the effort, experiment, make mistakes, take criticism, learn and apply what you’ve learned you will eventually come out the other end better for your efforts. You will have taken a step into your future. A future that you have some measure of control over. Don’t just bob around the universal ocean like a cork. GET OFF YOUR ASS and take an active role in your own life. You’ll be happy you did.
